Great Expectations 怀孕 Classes

加州大学旧金山分校的 Great Expectations 怀孕 Program offers a variety of classes to help expecting mothers and their partners learn more about pregnancy, 出生, 母乳喂养和育儿. Classes fill up quickly, and signing up well in advance is recommended. To enroll in classes, please call (415) 514-2670.

Breastfeeding Classes (Second Trimester)

母乳喂养的基本知识. This class teaches participants how to overcome breastfeeding challenges and how to establish a successful breastfeeding relationship right from the start. Learn about breast physiology, milk production, letdown, latch-on and positioning.

Child出生 Classes (Third Trimester)

Child出生 Preparation: Integrated Methods. This class provides an overview of the stages and process of labor, breathing and relaxation techniques, 支持, 药物的选择, variations in labor including cesarean 出生, and immediate postpartum care for mother and baby.
Intensive Child出生 Preparation. A one-day workshop designed to give basic tools and information on preparing for 出生. This class incorporates all information from the Child出生 Preparation: Integrated Methods class, but in an accelerated format. Participants are sent the class packet to review prior to the class.
镇痛和分娩. Learn about the pain 药物的选择 available to assist you during labor and child出生. Discuss your concerns or questions with a UCSF anesthesiologist.
出生中心定位. Learn about the UCSF Birth Center facilities and the practical aspects of arriving at the hospital when you are in labor. We are not conducting in-person tours at this time, but you are welcome to view our 分娩中心之旅 video.

Baby Care Classes (Third Trimester and After)

Parenting During the First Few Months. This workshop offers basic survival techniques for caring for your newborn, including postpartum care for mom. Learn about newborn characteristics, 婴儿的里程碑, 洗澡, 卫生, 换尿布的, 哭, 令人欣慰的, sleep and recognizing the signs of illness.

Postpartum Support (After Delivery)

的 Afterglow: A Postpartum Support Group for New Mothers. A six-week postpartum 支持 group for new moms with their babies. You will learn about the "baby blues" and the emotional changes that can occur after child出生; self-care; and relaxation techniques. Connect with other new parents and share the highs and lows of motherhood in a 支持ive space.
牛奶(母亲 & Infant Lactation Kooperative) Support Group. 分享 your experiences with other breastfeeding moms in this 支持 group led by a board-certified lactation consultant. Babies from newborn to six months old are welcome. Healthy snacks will be served.
Pumping and Returning to Work. Get practical tips and advice on continuing to breastfeed your baby while working.
